Zara’s trip to the beach

At the weekend we went to Suffolk to celebrate my parents’ 30th Wedding Anniversary.

We all had a rather busy, jam packed weekend! We met up with clever Hearing Dog Honey and her lovely recipient (see previous blog post), explored the surrounding villages and spent hours and hours on the beach.

Zara’s first experience of the sea was when we took her to Lulworth Cove back in May and she wasn’t overly keen on it! To be fair to her, it chucked it down the whole time we were there so it wasn’t great swimming weather!

When we went to the beach on Saturday she still wasn’t sure. She just couldn’t work out why the water was chasing her!!

To help reintroduce her to the sea, we started by paddling in the water with her, which seemed to boost her confidence and throwing a ball along the shore. She got braver and braver throughout the afternoon and even went for a full blown swim with my brother’s girlfriend (who was only swimming because Zara had refused to get her ball and it was slowly being taken out to sea!).

By Sunday lunchtime we couldn’t keep her out! She absolutely loved it and had worked out to go onto her tippy toes, so she didn’t get a mouth full of water whilst waiting for the big waves to pass, before going to fetch her ball – such a clever girl!

We had such a fun weekend and came home late Monday evening, worn out and covered in sand!
